Tributes paid to Narayana Marar

CHOTTANIKKARA: An enthralling panchavadhyam performance was held at the Chottanikkara temple, to commemorate thimila maestro Chottanikkara Narayana Marar on his 11th death anniversary. Panchavadyam aficionados from far and wide gathered at the temple to enjoy the performance. A little known rhythmic pattern was played by the 17 thimila artists, headed by Chottanikkara Sathya Narayana Marar and Chottanikkara Subash Narayana Marar along with 11 maddalam artists including Odakkali Sharath Babu and Chalakkudy Junior Narayanan Nambeeshan.Additional Chief Secretary K Jayakumar inaugurated the function. A warm reception was given to Peruvanam Kuttan Marar, Tripunithura Krishnadas and Varanadu Sankaranarayana Kurup. This was followed by the presentation of Chottanikkara Narayana Marar Memorial Gold Medal to the ‘kombu’ artist, Kummathu Ramankutty Nair.
