CHENNAI: The Mambalam Railway Protection Force (RPF) have arrested two youngsters for creating ruckus in a railway station under the influence of alcohol on Monday night. According to sources, the duo, identified as Rahwal (20) of Pullianthope and Suresh Panwal (26) of Choolaimedu, boarded a Beach-bound Electric Multiple Unit at Guindy railway station at 9.30pm on Monday. They were reportedly in an inebriated state and were posing trouble for co-passengers, the sources added. As the train reached the Saidapet railway station, they alighted from the train and blew a whistle near the motorman’s cab within five seconds of the train halting at the station. This distracted the motorman for an instant, who is used to the whistle from the guard before taking off from a station.Suspecting that it was not the usual whistle from the guard as the normal halting time was 30 seconds at any railway station, the motorman came to the platform and discovered that it was the handiwork of the duo.The motorman reportedly advised them not to indulge in such activities but was in turn abused by the two men. He registered a complaint with the Mambalam RPF. Later, the miscreants were arrested and booked under two sections of the Railways Act, including 145(b). They were fined `500 each, sources added.
