Around 35,378 voters who were recently elected to the booth committees in the first phase of organisational polls are eligible to participate in the final phase of election which will be held for two days from Wednesday.Polls for the posts of president, vice president and general secretaries of state unit will also be held along with that for the Assembly and Lok Sabha committees. While five general secretary posts are reserved for SC/ST, Women, OBC and minorities, the other three posts will be filled through election, KPYCC sources informed Express.Among the key contestants include Priyank Kharge, son of Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mallikarjuna Kharge, Rizwan Arshad and B V Srinivas.Candidates polling the highest and the second number of votes will be declared as the new president and vice-president of KPYCC, respectively. This will be followed by filling up of eight vacant posts of general secretaries of the Karnataka State Youth Congress Committee.BOOTH-LEVEL YC POLLS OVERBooth level elections for the Karnataka Youth Congress has concluded and a total of 37,391 candidates have been elected. These members will be electing Assembly/Lok Sabha/State committees on October 12 and 13 between 8 am and 3 pm.Counting of votes will be held on October 15 and results will be published on www.iyc.in/karnataka immediately.RAMYA’S ABSENCE DENTS POLL SHEENThe withdrawal of Kannada actress Ramya from the KPYCC election fray has robbed the electoral process to the state unit of the grand old party of India of its sheen.Ramya, who had enrolled as a Youth Congress member, was seen by many as a top contender for the president post. This has rendered competition to the KPYCC posts an all-male affair.
