BHUBANESWAR: Umerkote (ST) Assembly byelection will be held on November 30. The Election Commission announced this with other bypolls in West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar and Jharkhand.The notification for the Umerkote bypoll will be issued on November 5. The last date for filing of nominations is November 12 and scrutiny will be over on November 14. The last date for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed on November 16. The model code of conduct will come into force with immediate effect in the district. Counting will be held on December 4 and the results announced before December 7. The EC has decided to use electronic voting machines (EVMs) in all the polling stations. Electoral photo identity cards (EPIC) will be the main document of identity of a voter. However, in order to ensure that no one is deprived of voting, separate instructions will be issued to allow additional documents for identification of voters if the names figure in the list.
