MADURAI: The Police have secured a 24-year-old woman on Friday for allegedly sending a hoax mail to Virudhunagar District Crime Branch (DCB) unit, warning that bombs would go off at Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s house in Chennai, the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, the Ranganathar temple in Srirangam and the Andal Temple in Srivilliputhur. The police received this hoax mail in the wake of the visit of senior BJP leader L K Advani for the party state level conference in Madurai. The special team, which investigated the mail, found that it was sent from Kalasalingam University. Immediately, a team rushed to the varsity campus for investigations.Since students had left the campus for summer vacation, the police focused their inquiry on the staff members. A thorough check of the computers used by the staff led the team to an administrative officer called Vasantha (24) of Sundarapandiam village in Virudhunagar district, sources said.Vasantha reportedly confessed to the police that she had sent the mail to take revenge against her husband Nachimuthu, who had separated from her recently. Vasantha reportedly sent the mail to the DCB on Wednesday pretending to be her husband.“I am a Maoist involved in Mumbai bomb blast. I have planted bombs at CM’s house, Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, Ranganathar Temple in Srirangam and Andal Temple in Srivilliputhur,” the mail stated. The mail also had a mobile number and challenged the police to catch him if possible. In a similar incident three days ago, a homeopathy doctor also made a hoax bomb call to the 108-ambulance service and said that a bomb was planted in a car that would go off during the BJP meeting. The doctor also gave the car number, police sources said. The police traced the call to the homeopathy doctor who had made the call to settle scores with the house owner.
