Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday approved the recommendations of the seventh pay commission.

As per new salary structure, entry salary that is of the lowest rung will be around Rs 18,000 and pay for highest office of Chief second will be around Rs 2.25 lakh.

Addressing the media on Tuesday over the big decision taken few months before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, Akhilesh Yadav said that the pay hike will be implemented from January 17.

Claiming that the decision is in the favour of the people, Yadav asserted that the 2017 UP Assembly elections will be historic. "We will win and if the alliance happens, we will cross 300 plus seats."

Earlier, a committee constituted by state government had submitted it's report to the UP CM recommending pay hike at par with central government employees.

Through this move, around 24 lakh employees and pensioners will be benefited.

Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi over demonetisation decision, Yadav said, "We all want black money to end but, demonetisation without adequate preparation has thrown people in trouble. Farmers are in distress. Those who were talking of 50 days are now talking of 50 more days."

Hinting at UP Assembly elections, he asserted that those who are standing in queues outside banks to get cash today, will soon stand in lines to teach a lesson to the Centre.

Rejecting the claims of rift in the party, he said that such issues keep coming up.
