Lucknow: In a bid to make polls more tech-savvy and transparent, the State Election Commission has announced web-casting of 10% polling booths along with hypersensitive polling booths in 24 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The state goes to poll in the first phase of municipal body elections on November 22.
Chief Election Commissioner SK Agarwal met with District Magistrates and Senior Superintendent of Police’s (SSP) of all districts going for polls in the first phase. A review of all necessary preparations and the deployment of CRPF, PAC was discussed in the meeting held on Monday.
“Officials, along with security personnel, would start reaching their booths by the evening of November 21. For the first time, around 40 companies of central paramilitary forces have been given to the state for maintaining law and order during the elections,” informed Agarwal.
As per the Commission, polling booths with web-casting facilities would increase with time.
The first phase of polling for municipal polls would be held in 24 districts on November 22. There are 1.09 crore voters in this phase who will cast their votes at 11,679 booths.
