In the context of the boycott of VIP duty by Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA), the state government is hoping to rope in doctors from various Medical Colleges to cater to the service of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
“We will need a team of doctors and paramedics for Prime Minister. We will be roping in doctors from the Medical Colleges owing to the strike,” said P I Sheikh Pareeth, Disitrict Collector.
The KGMOA had declared in a press conference held here on Sunday that the members of the association will stay away from VIP duty during the ‘Emerging Kerala’ meet which will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
The doctors had said that the responsibility to allocate substitutes for VIP duty was on the state government.
Meanwhile, the Health Department said that the issue of boycotting VIP duty of Prime Minister would be taken up seriously. “The boycott of VIP duty of Prime Minister is not a light matter. It will have to be looked into very seriously,” said Health Secretary, Rajiv Sadanandan.
