THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday said that the investigation team probing the alleged snooping of e-mail accounts of persons belonging to a minority community in the state had got vital clues.The Chief Minister told reporters here that the investigation was moving in the right direction. “The investigation is progressing on the right track and we got vital clues. We are awaiting the probe report, and once the report is received, immediate action will be taken,’’ he said.Earlier, in connection with the controversy, S Biju, a sub-inspector attached to the hi-tech cell at the police headquarters, was placed under suspension. Action was taken against him for handing over fabricated documents relating to the e-mail surveillance to a vernacular magazine. The magazine and a daily brought out by the same group had reported that e-mail IDs of leaders, activists, professionals, students and journalists of a particular community were subjected to surveillance by the Intelligence wing of the Kerala Police.The report alleged that out of the 268 e-mail accounts, 258 belonged to the members of the community.The Chief Minister and the DGP had earlier denied the report terming it as baseless.
