VSS Nagar firing: Main accused held

BHUBANESWAR: A week after he opened fire at a crowded VSS Nagar market, the Commissionerate Police have arrested the main accused Brahmananda Padhi.A Mauser and bike were seized by Sahid Nagar Police. Padhi’s associate, however, continues to be at large. His identity has not been disclosed yet.On June 8 evening, Padhi had opened fire at three youths in the VSS Nagar area. After he was captured by a person for allegedly assaulting the latter’s brother-in-law, Padhi opened fire and escaped on a bike.Police said, Padhi was a history-sheeter and booked in half a dozen cases for immoral trafficking, robbery and snatching in the Capital. He was produced before a local court.
