CHENNAI: The GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI), on Friday, clarified that the paramedics of the ‘108’ services, summoned by traffic head constable K Ravi, attached to Aminjikarai traffic wing, on January 31 to transport a man, rescued from the Cooum, to the hospital, did not refuse to take the victim but had washed and cleaned him before taking him to the KMCH.GVK-EMRI said the call was received by 108 services at 7.09 am and the ambulance reached the spot at 7.16 am. The victim Prabhu (50), a mason belonging to Vyasarpadi, was admitted to KMCH at 7.40 am after pre-hospital care was provided by the ambulance staff.According to head constable Ravi, however, the victim was covered with mud and was given a wash after being rescued from the water. But the paramedics found the man still covered with mud and he asked a women to fetch two more pots of water. After the mason was cleaned again, newspaper sheets were spread inside the ambulance and he was then taken to the hospital.
