Population Research Centre, Visakhapatnam is currently in the headlines for regularly performing the population census of Andhra Pradesh. In an interaction with Local 18 Telugu, Professor Dr B Muniswamy talked about the statistics of the state. As per the professor, Andhra Pradesh has a population of 5.7 crore, with the number of men (2.66 crore) and women (2.657 crore). Dr Muniswamy also added that India’s population is steadily increasing and per the statistics, the ratio of the fertility rate is 1:2. It means that a woman is expected to bear two children. As per Dr Muniswamy, every woman in the country has a chance to give birth to two children. According to the statistical data released by the Population Research Centre, the growth rate in India is 0.92 percent. Reportedly, the population of India is more than 144 crore, making it the largest population in the world. Amongst this, the male population in India is 74.33 crore, and the female population is 69.83 crore.
It is to be noted that the last census held in India was in 2011 and since then no census has been held. Due to this, the onus of calculation of the figures is on the Population Research Centre. This institution does not cite the original data and only calculates the general statistics. As per the data, the population of people globally is 812 crore, out of which men’s population globally is 408 crore.
Users will be able to see an electric board installed on the Population Research Centre’s outside. These boards display how the number of Andhra Pradesh’s population is increasing rapidly every day.
Why Indian Census has not been conducted yet?
The Indian Census was scheduled to be conducted in 2021. The precise size of the population of the country is not yet known due to the indefinite delay of the census, which was scheduled to be conducted in 2021 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This is the first time in its 150-year history that the decennial census exercise has been delayed.
