The rainy season is considered to be an ideal time to plant trees. A lot of people plant a variety of trees during the season. But do you know the real reason behind the belief? Apart from the best weather and environment, the season gives.
The Local18 team met with Debendranath Chakraborty, an experienced man looking after nurseries and a resident of East Burdwan, West Bengal. According to him, one should know what a tree wants. He said, “First of all, we need to understand what the tree wants. The soil has some work.” He mentioned that trees are usually planted in the monsoon season but there are some varieties which need dust.
Debendranath continued, “But there are some plants that have to be planted in the dust, and after planting, they have to be watered.” During the rainy season, a plant gets all the required elements like hydrogen and oxygen from the soil. However, if it is planted on sunny days and it rains on it, the plant can show rapid growth.
The expert spoke further, “Also, during the rainy season, we have to remember that if the tree is planted in wet soil or mud, that tree will not grow quickly.” Planting the trees at a higher altitude could help it grow faster during the monsoon. He added, “If trees are planted in low places, water should be arranged to drain out.” So, if you are opting for the latter, make sure the soil is placed at the base of the planted tree so that the water does not stay.
According to him, the best time to plant a tree is right before the season of monsoon starts. During the rainy season, all the required nutrients are available for the plants in abundance.
