BANGALORE: Your energy completely drains out before reaching Bannerghatta Biological Park, thanks to bad roads. The word ‘horrible’ is not enough to explain the present condition of the road from Gottageri to the Park.Travelling on this road is a nightmare and gives us a feeling as if it is not a part of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits. Those who are not ready to use the Nice Road by paying the high toll fee have to take the Gottageri Road which makes people exhausted even before reaching the Park to see the wild animals. The 2-3 km stretch of this bad road takes not less than 45 minutes. There is not even a semblance of tar on this road and a thick smoke of dust engulfs the whole area after the passage of each vehicle. This single stretch of road has not been repaired by the concerned authorities despite hundreds of tourists taking this unenviable stretch to reach the Park. The BMTC buses too move precariously with open drains staring on both sides of the road. “The condition of this road has remained the same since past six to eight months. We have given written complaints to the authorities many a time but nobody is bothered. The situation is quite bad during rainy season as the big craters and potholes in this stretch are not visible. Every day, a couple of two-wheeler riders falling and injuring themselves has become a common feature. Driving on this stretch of road is really a nightmare”, remarked Siddaiah, a driver of BMTC.It is a known fact that lakhs of people visit the BBP every year. The duty of the departments concerned is to repair this road and make it motarable. Not all people can afford to pay Rs 50 and use Nice Road.
