BANGALORE: Following his victory in the byelection to the lone seat of the Legislative Council, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda vowed to fulfill the aspirations of the public.Addressing the media immediately after the announcement of the verdict, he said, “I will work to fulfill the promises made when I became the chief minister four months ago.”He singled out the JD(S) and the Independents while thanking all those who supported him during the byelection. “The JD(S) has finally realised the majority that we are enjoying in the Assembly, and had decided to abstain from voting,” was his take on the development. He, however, denied having made any promise to the Independent legislators in exchange for their support, while adding he would resign from the Parliament in a week or two.Choosing to parry questions on a possible Cabinet expansion, Gowda averred: “I will abide by the party.”
