New Delhi: Five men were arrested on Tuesday for kidnapping a 30-year-old woman from outside the Sahara Mall in Gurugram and gang-raping her at a guest house in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area on Monday night.

The woman, who works at a private firm, told the police that she had come out of the mall around 11pm on Monday. She was looking for an auto when the men offered to drop her home. Two of the accused are drivers for a leading app-based cab aggregator firm.

When the woman resisted their offer, they dragged her into the car and took her to a guest house in south Delhi where they took turns to rape her for several hours, police said. After raping her, the men left her in a room in the guest house and bolted the door from outside.

The woman started shouting for help and her cries fell on the ears of a cook who worked at the guest house. He opened the room to let her out but one of the accused tried to stop her from fleeing.

The girl, however, managed to get her hands on a rod kept nearby and hit the accused with it. She then fled the guest house and called up a friend, who took her to the police station in Vasant Kunj at 4.30 am.

The police registered an FIR on charges of kidnapping and rape and arrested the five accused from the area soon after.

The accused - Tejvir Singh, Gopal Prasad, Roop Dev, Anshul and Rambabu – are all from Haryana and work in the national capital, police said.
