A 21-year-old youth was killed and his friend severely injured after a car ran him over at Roopena Agrahara in Madiwala traffic police station limits on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Laiju John. He was studying radiology in Hosmat Hospital. The injured is identified as Rakesh (22), who has been hospitalised.
According to police, the incident took place around 7.30 pm while they were on their way to NICE Road via Hosur Road on a two wheeler. Rakesh, who was riding, had to apply sudden brakes to avoid hitting a pedestrian. He lost control over his vehicle and fell on the right side of the road. A speeding car, which was coming from the opposite side, ran over Laiju and hit Rakesh. They were taken to St John’s Hospital by a passerby. Laiju succumbed in the hospital.
A case has been registered in Madiwala traffic police station.
