Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham (internationally released as The Goat Life) not only received great reviews but also impressive recording results. The Malayalam film, directed by Blessy, has reportedly achieved earnings of Rs 7.45 crore. This comes even though Aadujeevitham was not released on a holiday.
According to Sacnilk, the film reached the mark of Rs 6.50 crore at the box office Friday, which corresponds to an overall revenue of Rs 14.10 crore in all languages in India. The total revenue amounted to Rs 11.82 crore for Malayalam, Rs 0.09 crore for Kannada, Rs 1.2 crore for Tamil, Rs 0.9 crore for Telugu and Rs 0.09 crore for Hindi.
The Malayalam occupancy rate of the film increased significantly on the second day. While there was an occupancy of 57.79 per cent on the first day, the occupancy on the second day was 75.09 per cent.
In an exclusive conversation with News18, Prithviraj spoke about his physical transformation in the film. The actor lost 31 kilograms for the film. “I never thought that this was possible. The most delicate thing about it was] hunger. Because it had nothing to do with diet. I just didn’t have to eat. My transformation was mainly based on fasting. There were times when I was fasting for three days,” he said.
The film was in the works for almost 16 years. The idea came from Blessy in 2008 and Sukumaran had agreed to play the role in the same year. I don’t know if this can still be called a cinema experience. It’s more of a part of my life now. I said yes to this movie in 2008 and now we are in 2024. This is a journey of about 16 years. I’m only 41 now, so 16 years of 41 is a considerable time in your life,” he added.
The film has not just received critical praise but has also made a significant impact at the box office, marking one of the most remarkable openings in Malayalam cinema history. With the film’s popularity continuing to rise, Aadujeevitham promises to be a significant success, buoyed by strong audience support and favourable reviews.
