Amitabh Bachchan CONFIRMS Abhishek Bachchan Will Face Off Against Shah Rukh Khan In King, Says 'It Is Time'
Abhishek Bachchan will be playing the villain in Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan's King.

Amitabh Bachchan has confirmed that Abhishek Bachchan has been roped in to play the antagonist in Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan starrer King. The film will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh and Siddharth Anand will be overseeing the action. Abhishek Bachchan will be seen as the villain in the film.

Amitabh Bachchan took to his X handle to reshare a post about this news, praising Abhishek’s acting prowess in films like Raavan, where he has previously played an antagonist. Amitabh wrote, “All the best Abhishek… It is TIME!!!”

“Abhishek is an actor whose full potential has yet to be fully realized. He has the ability to astonish audiences when given complex roles. King presents him in an out-and-out negative role for the first time in such a large-scale commercial movie, and he is sure to make a significant impact with his performance. The Jr. Bachchan was surprised when he was offered this role but accepted it immediately, intrigued by the depth of his character. It’s a special role, and Siddharth Anand has grand plans to present Abhishek in a manner audiences have never seen before,” a source close to the development told Peeping Moon.

As per latest reports, the film will go on floors in May this year. “Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh have been constantly in touch with Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan with multiple meetings from October 2023 to February 2024. Sujoy is meticulously working on the script with Sid and SRK. Designing world-class action sequences rests fully on Siddharth,” a source close to the development told Pinkvilla in February this year.

“The training is happening at Mannat and she (Suhana) is accompanied by her father, Shah Rukh Khan too in certain practice sessions. Trainers of international repute are coming together to train Suhana and SRK, as King will explore a slightly raw form of action,” the source added. “Sujoy has started casting for the ensemble cast as the idea is to take off from May 2024 and make it the big ticket offing from SRK in 2025,” the source mentioned.

Speaking about the film’s plot, a source had earlier told Pinkvilla, “The flavour of action in King will be very different from what SRK has done in Pathaan and Jawan. This one would be sleek with a lot of chase sequences. However, the core plot is emotional and driven by the story. It has lots of twists and turns, which is the reason why Sujoy has been bestowed with the responsibility of direction.”
