Sanya Malhotra, who previously acted alongside Bobby Deol in Shah Rukh Khan’s Love Hostel production, is set to reunite with him for Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film. According to a report from Peeping Moon, joining them is renowned Malayalam actor Joju George, making his Bollywood debut. Besides, Saba Azad, known for her role in the hit Sony LIV series Rocket Boys, is also a part of the cast. All three actors— Sanya, Joju and Saba — will play pivotal roles alongside Bobby Deol, with their characters intricately woven into the plot. Adapted from an unpublished book by Anurag and two other writers, this project is a long-awaited partnership between Bobby and director.
While the story’s exact details remain under wraps, the report suggests it’s a powerful thriller inspired by a real-life event. The film promises to explore important issues in Anurag Kashyap’s signature raw and unflinching style. The production, helmed by Nikhil Dwivedi, will see scriptwriting duties shared by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee. Filming began on May 14 in Mumbai and is expected to be completed by June 2024 and a theatrical release later this year.
The script for the film is written by Sudip Sharma, known for NH10, Udta Punjab, Paatal Lok, and Kohrra, along with Abhishek Banerjee, who wrote the script for Anushka Sharma’s horror film Pari in 2018.
Meanwhile, Bobby’s schedule for the year is already full. In addition to his projects in South India and across India, he’s set to star in Aryan Khan’s debut web series, Stardom, and Kunal Kohli’s investigative drama, ‘Desi Sherlock.’ Fans are also anticipating the release of his thriller, ‘Penthouse,’ directed by Abbas-Mustan, especially after Netflix withdrew from it, suggesting it might premiere on another streaming platform.
Hailed as one of the finest actors in the film industry, Bobby Deol has acted in many films including Barsaat, Soldier, etc. He took a sabbatical from the film industry owing to successive flops but made a huge comeback with the film Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. He played the role of Abrar ul Haque in Animal and won appreciation despite limited screen time.
