The movie will feature Damson Idris (Snowfall) as the young racer who receives training from Brad Pitt’s character.

Brad Pitt’s next film based on Formula One racing will reportedly be one of the most expensive movies ever made. Announced in 2021, the untitled film is directed by ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ helmer Joseph Kosinski. The film, being produced for Apple TV, follows a fictional Formula One driver who comes out of retirement to mentor and eventually team up with a younger F1 driver on the Apex Grand Prix team. Apart from Pitt, the cast includes Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Lewis Hamilton, Javier Bardem, and Sarah Niles.

According to Puck’s Matthew Belloni, Brad Pitt’s F1 movie is being made on the whopping budget of over USD 300 million (approximately Rs 2,504 crore). As per a report in Collider, the film will have a two-week IMAX release beginning on June 27, 2025. However, Apple hasn’t yet revealed which studio will be distributing the movie.

Last year, Brad Pitt was spotted at Silverstone all dressed up as a formula one driver ahead. The video of Pitt all suited and booted for his race had gone viral on social media. Mercedes driver and seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films is also serving as one of the producers on the movie. Hamilton will be sharing the important insights with the ‘Fight Club’ actor who looks all enthusiastic for the big challenge for his next project.

“The fact that we’ll have all the original characters that are actually on the grid and then Brad is pretty cool,” said Hamilton. “Brad is such an iconic actor and he’s always done an incredible job. I can’t tell you how excited I am to have him in the movie.”

F1 reporter Will Buxton had also revealed on social media that Pitt drove an F2-adapted car in Silverstone, and the footage of the same shot would be used in the upcoming film.

“What an honour to host the final panel of the day at F1 Accelerate with movie royalty Jerry Bruckheimer and Joseph Kosinski. Their F1 movie sounds incredible. They’re creating an 11th team and filming on track and on event from Silverstone to the end of the year,” Buxton had written on social media last year.

“They’ve spent 18 months taking what they learnt on Top Gun: Maverick to develop the smallest moveable 6k camera ever designed to take the viewer into the cockpit. A cockpit in which their stars will actually drive. That’s right. Brad Pitt driving an F1 car from Silverstone onwards,” he had added.
