DYK Kriti Kharbanda Never Wanted To Pursue Acting? Know Here Inspiring Journey
Kriti Kharbanda never dreamt of becoming an actress, but destiny had other plans for her.

Actress Kriti Kharbanda never dreamt of being an actor despite facing the camera from a very young age. She appeared on TV commercials during her childhood days after she shifted to Bangalore with her parents in the ‘90s. In an old interview with Southscope, the actress revealed that it was her mother who turned her to acting as she had no plans on switching to the big screen.

Kriti, who has a diploma in jewellery design, started her career in the film industry with the 2009 Telugu film Boni, in which she starred opposite Sumanth. Although the film failed to leave an indelible mark on the viewers, Kriti bagged a role in the 2011 Telugu-language romantic drama Teen Maar alongside Pawan Kalyan and Trisha. Apart from Telugu, the 33-year-old actress has also starred in Kannada films like Chirru, Prem Adda, Googly, Super Ranga and Galaate.

Kriti made her Bollywood debut in 2016 with the Vikram Bhatt-directed horror film Raaz Reboot. She starred opposite Emraan Hashmi and Gaurav Arora. Her next film was Guest iin London alongside Kartik Aaryan. In the same year, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana was released, which immediately catapulted Kriti to immense fame and recognition. The actress received much praise for her role as Aarti Shukla opposite Rajkummar Rao’s character Satyendra ‘Sattu’ Mishra.

In the following years, Kriti acted alongside some big names in the Hindi film industry. In 2018, she was seen in Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se, which starred Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. The following year, Housefull 4 was released. Kriti was among the star-studded cast, which also included Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol and Riteish Deshmukh.

Notably, Kriti completed 15 years in the film industry earlier this year. She took to her Instagram account to share a post highlighting her journey. In a part of her long note, she mentioned, “What started out as a hobby, as a way to pay the bills and being recognised slowly grew into a passion! A passion that I didn’t even know existed inside of me,” as she commemorated the special occasion through the post.

Speaking of her future projects, Kriti will be seen in Risky Romeo, co-starring Sunny Singh. Abir Sengupta is directing the neo-noir comic tragedy.

If you don’t already know, Kriti Kharbanda married her longtime beau, Pulkit Samrat, in March 2024. The couple held a dreamy ceremony in the presence of their family and loved ones. She met with him in 2018 and started dating Pulkit in 2019. The duo has worked together on films, including Pagalpanti and Taish.
