HYBE's Bang Si-hyuk Celebrates JY Park's 30 Years As A Solo Artist; His Message
“I know JY Park was someone who did things for me that no one else would have done," Bang Si-hyuk said.

JY Park, the esteemed founder of JYP Entertainment, is celebrating a significant milestone—30 years since his debut as a solo K-pop artist. To honour this momentous occasion, Bang Si-hyuk, the founder of HYBE and a long-time friend of JY Park, shared a heartfelt video message reflecting on their enduring friendship. Bang Si-hyuk made a special appearance on KBS’s Chuseok broadcast, Ddan Ddara JYP, which was dedicated to commemorating JY Park’s three decades in the industry. In his surprise video message, the HYBE chairman conveyed his warm congratulations and support.

In the video, Bang Si-hyuk said, “You asked me to surprise you by joining your 30th-anniversary stage, but that might be difficult. You’ve always wanted to perform, and I hope you continue to burn bright on your dream stages and step down feeling happy,” reports Allkpop.

He also reflected on their past, acknowledging that younger artists may not fully grasp it until they reach the same point. “I know JY Park was someone who did things for me that no one else would have done,” he recalled.

Bang Si-hyuk further elaborated, sharing how, after becoming independent, he realised something important. “After going independent, I realised that while I thought we were working together on business, I was actually helping him with his. It made me realize how extraordinary J.Y. Park is,” he said.

He concluded by talking more about their close relationship: “There’s no need to define our relationship. We’re like brothers, and there’s no lie or shame in saying that,” he elaborated.

Although they now lead separate entertainment agencies, Bang Si-hyuk ’s message offers a glimpse into the strong connection he shares with JY Park.

The two reportedly first crossed paths during the time of JY Park’s debut album Blue City. Their collaboration extended for several years before Bang Si-hyuk went on to establish his own company, BigHit Entertainment, leaving behind his work with Park Jin-young’s division.

In celebration of JY Park’s 30-year anniversary, several current and former JYP artists came together for the KBS special broadcast. A total of 29 stages were performed, showcasing exciting acts by artists such as TWICE, 2 PM, Wonder Girls, g.o.d, Rain and many more, including some collaborative performances with JY Park himself.

KBS has also shared various clips from the 150-minute broadcast on their YouTube channel, KBS K-pop.
