The first look of the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel It Ends With Us Has been released. The film stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni as the leads and is slated to open in theatres on August 9. The film, directed by Justin Baldoni with a screenplay by Christy Hall, presents Blake Lively as Lily Bloom, while Justin plays Ryle Kincaid. The first look pictures were shared on the film’s official social media handle.

The stills shared on Instagram are suggestive screen grabs from the movie, while some are behind-the-scenes clicks with the author, Colleen Hoover. The caption along with the post reads, “The book you love is the movie event of the summer. Colleen Hoover’s global best-selling phenomenon #ItEndsWithUsMovie is coming exclusively to theatres August 9.” As per the plot, Lily Bloom is a woman trying to overcome a horrible background with an abusive father and ends up being involved in a tragic relationship herself. Ryle Kincaid, a neurosurgeon, falls in love with Lily and persuades her to spend her life with him. However, as life takes a turn for Lily with Ryle, her lost love Atlas Corrigan, re-enters her life, causing Lily to realise that she must learn to rely on her strengths to choose her future.

Fans are quite excited about the release of the film. Some expressed that they “Can’t wait’ for it to release and a user stated, “Wait this is actually making me second guess my original thoughts about this movie, okay I’m sooo excited now.”

Speaking about playing Lily, Blake Lively told People, “Lily resonated with an enormous amount of people, as the success of the book made clear. Stepping into a character who’s had such a meaningful impact is an honor to take on.”I loved Lily and I hope that love is felt by those who care about her like I do, and also those who are getting to know her for the first time in this film.”

Initially, the casting of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni as Lily and Ryle garnered criticism from readers due to the age difference between the performers and their characters. Reportedly, Colleen Hoover, on the other hand, defended the casting, saying that she hopes to show the correct ages of the characters in the film.
