Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, saw its theatrical release on March 1, 2024. Upon its release, the film garnered rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Celebrities also fell in love with Rao’s directorial prowess and the stellar performances by the cast of the film. The film was released on Netflix on April 26. As the film continues to win hearts, actress Janhvi Kapoor took to her social media handle to share her thoughts and opinions on the family drama.
After watching the film, Janhvi Kapoor took to her Instagram stories and wrote, “Pratibha Santa, your silent strength; Nitanshi Singh, your innocence and heartwarming smile; Sparsh Srivastava, your honesty and disarming humour!!! The movie is adapted from Biplab Goswami’s award-winning novel. Kiran Rao’s directorial features Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan in the lead roles. The movie takes viewers back to rural India in 2001. Its narrative revolves around two brides who get exchanged during a train journey. The journey, filled with twists and turns, begins as their husbands start searching for the real bride.
Made under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, the film marked the directorial comeback of Kiran Rao after Dhobi Ghat. Before its theatrical release, the film was screened at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023. It received a standing ovation from the audience present at the festival.
On the work front, Janhvi Kapoor is awaiting the release of her next Mr. and Mrs. Mahi with Rajkummar Rao. Helmed by Sharan Sharma and backed by Karan Johar, the movie is all set to release on May 31, 2024.
In Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, Rajkummar will be portraying the character of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, while Janhvi will play the role of a character called Mahima. In an interview with Mid-Day, Janhvi had earlier revealed that she underwent a gruelling six months of intensive training in order to adapt to the mannerisms of a cricketer. The actress had said, “It was an exhaustive process of six months to get into the skin of the character and sync into the role.”
