Kajol is currently gearing up for the release of her thriller, Do Patti, with Kriti Sanon. In a recent interview, the actor recalled how she was exhausted after working in three movies. She recalled how she received a piece of advice from Shah Rukh Khan that changed how she looked at her profession and how she started enjoying the process.
In a conversation with India Today, Kajol recalled how she was facing burnout after working on three films. She was already working on her third film when she was 18. The actor mentioned how Shah Rukh Khan advised her to learn acting so that she could enjoy the process. She recalled, “I remember I finished the film and before that, Shah Rukh was like, ‘You know you just have to learn how to act.’ I was like, ‘What is this? What is he talking about?’ Of course, I’m doing a fabulous job!”
However, she realized that Khan was right when acting started getting to her. She continued, “I did this film called Udhaar Ki Zindagi. While I was finishing the film, I remember turning around and telling my mother, ‘You know, mom, I’m done. Wow. I’m burnt out. At the tender age of 18-and-a-half, I am done. I cannot move anymore. I cannot cry anymore. I cannot put glycerin anymore. I can’t. I don’t want to do these films anymore. I want to do, you know, four scenes, ten songs.’ I wanted to do such films. And I signed four films like that. So that’s where Gunda Raj, Hulchul, all these films came out from. I learnt the technique of acting after that.”
On the work front, Kajol will be seen playing the role of a cop in Netflix’s Do Patti. The thriller has been helmed by Shashanka Chaturvedi. She is also working on Karan Johar’s Sarzameen where she will star alongside debutante Ibrahim Ali Khan.
