Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Hansal Mehta finally announced the release date of their long-awaited film, The Buckingham Murders. Premiered at Jio MAMI Festival last year, Kareena confirmed on Monday that The Buckingham Murders will be a theatrical release. Sharing the poster, she revealed that The Buckingham Murders will release on September 13. The film is taking the slot left empty by Sara Ali Khan’s Metro In Dino, which also stars Aditya Roy Kapur.
Taking to Instagram, Kareena and Hansal shared a new poster featuring the actress. Kareena wandered in an empty neighbourhood in the poster. Besides announcing the release date, Kareena also confirmed that the teaser will release tomorrow, July 20. Sharing the poster, she wrote, “See you tomorrow ♥️.”
The Buckingham Murders, directed by Hansal Mehta, garnered acclaim from the crowd at its global premiere at the BFI London Film Festival 2023. It was also screened at the 2023 Mumbai Film Festival at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in October. The film marks Kareena’s first collaboration with Hansal. Kareena has also turned into a co-producer for the film.
Kareena Kapoor said in an interaction earlier this year, “I think I loved playing that part because this is the first time I am playing a detective, and I am a huge crime drama fan.” While the actress admitted that playing the role was difficult since the character’s grief made her uncomfortable it also gave her a lot of joy to play it. She added, “It’s a career-defining role for me and one of my best characters.” Kareena mentioned that she asked the director to make it a four part series since she did not want to let go of the character.
