Korean Actor Lee Dong Wook's Rugged Look For Harbin Is Out
Lee Dong Wook will feature alongside actor Hyun Bin in the Korean spy-thriller film Harbin.

Remember the Grim Reaper from Guardian: The Great and Lonely God? Played by South Korean actor Lee Dong Wook, the character remains a favourite among fans. Majorly seen in clean-shaved looks with his usual long hair, Dong Wook has now gone through a major look transformation for an upcoming film. As a part of his highly-awaited historical spy thriller Harbin, the actor is seen sporting facial hair, including a mustache, which is a rare sight for him.

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) recently unveiled a first look at the film. Harbin will premiere at the festival later this year, which will kickstart on September 5, 2024.

Also starring Hyun Bin as Ahn Jung Geun, “the Korean independence activist who in 1909 assassinated Itō Hirobumi, the first Prime Minister of Japan," the film is set in 1909, showcasing a thrilling chase and a web of doubts between those heading to Harbin and those pursuing them. While many others like Jeon Yeo Been, Park Jung Min, Park Hoon, Jo Woo Jin, and Yoo Jae Myung play pivotal roles, it’s the remarkably transformed Dong Wook who has left fans swooning.

As soon as the trailer came out, fans were taken aback by his new look and shared screenshots across social media platforms. “DONGWOOK IN HARBIN OMG," a fan wrote.

Another commented, “Harbin’s first trailer has been released. I’m so glad they cut Dong Wook’s shots into it. There’s not much information about his character, and the shots made him even more mysterious."

A fan couldn’t stop praising the Goblin actor’s age-transforming look.

“Lee Dongwook with moustache! He’s back with a new transformation yet again," another remarked.

Meanwhile, details about Donk Wook’s character in the film are unknown. Earlier, a new poster was dropped focusing on Ahn Jung Geun’s intense gaze as he stares at a target alongside other independence fighters.

The trailer focuses on Jung Geun leading the impossible attack on the Japanese forces in Harbin, China, with his team, who also remain shrouded in mystery. His remark, “The leader of the Japanese wolves ravaging Korea—I must kill that old wolf at all costs," connects well to the challenging fight for Korea’s freedom.
