Laaptaa Ladies has been the talk of the town ever since it was released on Netflix. The Kiran Rao directorial on missing brides has been garnering praise from audiences as well as critics, including top celebrities. The latest among them is global star Priyanka Chopra. The Heads of State actress has given a shoutout to the success of the Bollywood comedy, produced by Aamir Khan.
Sharing a story on her Instagram handle, Priyanka Chopra uploaded a poster of the film. With it, she penned, “Thank you for the entertainment and the education @raodyness! Congratulations on this gem (blessings and heart-shaped-eye emojis) make more movies!”
Laapataa Ladies revolves around two young brides who get swapped in the train while on the way to their husbands’ homes. It stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Savita Malviya, Ravi Kishan and Sparsh Srivastav in pivotal roles. The film, which hit theatres on March 1, released on OTT on April 26.
Other than PeeCee, other Bollywood personalities such as Alia Bhatt, Ananya Panday and Sunny Deol have showered love on the satirical drama performed by the debutant actors.
Heaping praise on the star cast on her Instagram story, Alia Bhatt wrote, “Such a wonderful time at the movies…(heart emoji). These ladies @pratibha_rabta @nitanshigoelofficial (and gentlemen this side @ss_this_side @ravi_kishann) truly have my heart..@raodyness Such a beautiful film.. and what fabulous performances by the entire cast! Congratulations to all of you…”
Ananya Panday, too, shared her views on Instagram stories and mentioned, “This one’s a real delight, couldn’t recommend it enough.”
Sunny Deol, on the other hand, reviewed the film and said, “Just finished watching Laapataa Ladies, haven’t seen such a heartwarming and innocent film in long. All my best to Kiran Rao and team will recommend all to watch this gem.” Responding to the Gadar 2 actor, Kiran Rao noted, “Thank you Sunny ji.”
Set in 2001 rural India, Laapataa Ladies has been jointly produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and Jyoti Deshpande. The comedy-drama is backed by Aamir Khan Productions, Jio Cinemas and Kindling Pictures.
