Mohammed Aziz died of cardiac arrest at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital on Tuesday.

Popular playback singer in Hindi, Bengali and Oria film industries, Mohammed Aziz died of cardiac arrest at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital on Tuesday. He was 64.

Born in West Bengal’s Ashoknagar, Aziz got his big break in Bollywood when he sang for Amitabh Bachchan in his super-hit 1985 film Mard.

In his prolific singing career spanning three decades, he had worked with several music maestros, including Kalyanji-Anandji, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Rahul Dev Burman, Naushad, OP Nayyar, Bappi Lahiri, Rajesh Roshan and Ravindra Jain.

Best known for songs My Name Is lakhan, Aap Ke Aa Jane Se, Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka and Dil Le Gayi Teri Bindiya, he had sung for several popular heroes of his time, including Govinda, Mithun Chakraborty and Rishi Kapoor.
