Renowned Punjabi singer Sardool Sikander, 60, breathed his last on Wednesday in Mohali. Sikander was admitted to the Fortis Hospital nearly a month ago to undergo treatment for kidney damage and other ailments. According to reports, the late musician contracted coronavirus and was getting treated for the same. Known for folk and pop music in Punjabi-language, his most popular hits include 'Ek charkha gali de wich dha laya' and 'Sanu ishq brandi char gayi'.
Following the news of the demise of the celebrated singer, tributes poured in huge numbers. A lot of fans and celebrities expressed condolences on social media.
Mourning Sikander’s death, Punjab Chief minister Amarinder Singh took to Twitter and informed that Sikander tested positive for Covid-19 and was being treated for it. “Extremely saddened to learn of the demise of legendary Punjabi singer Sardool Sikander. The world of Punjabi music is poorer today,” he tweeted.
Popular Bollywood singer Vishal Dadlani also took to his Twitter handle to mourn the tragic loss.

In her condolence message, singer Harshdeep Kaur mentioned that the death of the legendary singer is a huge loss to the music Industry.

Born to a famous tabla player, Sagar Mastana, Sikander had 27 albums to his credit. Sikander is survived by his wife and sons Sarang and Alaap.
