Stree 2 star Rajkummar Rao has opened up on what success means to him. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, the actor said that as an actor, what matters the most to him is the fact that his films are loved by the audience. He said that even if only a handful of people watches his film, he will be happy.
Rajkummar said, “As long as the budget of the film is right, the economics of the film is right, and I know that my producers have not lost money, I’m very happy. For me, the most important thing is to be a part of a good film. A film that is getting love from critics or anyone who has seen it— maybe only 20 people have seen it— but they really love it. And in films like, people like, cases like Stree, 20 lakh people would see it, but they also love it. For me, it’s very important that whatever work I do, people should enjoy it, people should appreciate the hard work that we have put in making that film. That is very important for me, to be proud of the work that I’m doing.”
Talking about success and what it means to him in today’s time, Rajkummar Rao said that success for him is to be able to say no to projects he doesn’t want to take up. He added, “Stardom is a tag that comes along with being an actor. When you keep pushing the boundary and something clicks and you become a star or superstar overnight. But that’s a tag that people give you. You cannot claim yourself to be a star or superstar – that happens very organically. I feel I’m successful when I get to do the kind of work I want to do and I can say no to the work I don’t want to do.”
Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, is holding strong at the box office in its second week. After a strong second Saturday, with a surge of over 88% and a collection of Rs 33.8 crore, the film continued to do well at the box office on Sunday, earning Rs 40 crore. As of Sunday, the film has grossed Rs 560 crore worldwide, with Rs 402 crore net and Rs 474 crore gross in domestic collections.
