Revu Review: Intense Fishermen Rivalry Shines Despite Predictable Narrative
Revu is a gripping exploration of the lives of fishermen, offering insight into their everyday struggles.

Revu is a low-budget film that has been promoted a lot in the last few days. The coastal drama has been directed by Harinath Puli and Samhith Entertainments is the banner behind this film. Revu was released along with two other films, Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam and Parakramam. It features newcomers in the lead roles. Let us discuss the film here.

Story

The rivalry between Ankalu (Vamsi Ram Pendyala) and Gangaiah (Ajay), two fishermen, takes a new turn with the arrival of Nagesu (Yepuri Hari), who owns a huge fishing vessel. They, along with other fishermen, fight against Nagesu’s reign of terror.

Analysis

Revu, directed by Harinath Puli, is an intense drama that delves deep into the lives of the coastal communities. The director initially focuses on portraying the life and lifestyle of the community. Things move slowly until they twist in the interval.

In the second half, the tone becomes more serious and the violence increases. Though it is mostly predictable, the film’s intense narrative keeps our interest to an extent. It paints a different picture of fishing villages that is far from what we have seen in the films.

But it has a very limited appeal. There is not much in the retribution parts to hold your interest, apart from a few crude sequences. It mostly follows a predictable pattern.

Performances

The performances are strong. All the actors are natural and give believable portrayals. The songs are not catchy but the background score is good. The film scores highly for its production design.

Conclusion

Although it’s a revenge story, Revu is quite watchable given the different backdrop. Despite the predictability, the believable performances make up for the gap.
