Riteish Deshmukh was attending a function in Latur where he remembered his late father and former CM of Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Riteish Deshmukh, a prominent figure in both the Hindi and Marathi entertainment industries, has garnered immense popularity with his versatility and remarkable talent. His father, Late Vilasrao Deshmukh, was a prominent politician who served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and held the position of Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. The Ved actor shared a close bond with his father and has time and again spoken about him on events and through social media post. Recently, the actor was in Latur to attend a function and he teared up while remembering Late Vilasrao Deshmukh.

In the viral video that is all over social media, Riteish Deshmukh can be seen getting emotional, after delivering a speech about his father. India Today quoted the actor saying, “Tough 12 years have passed since Saheb left us. Occasionally, the pain surfaces. He always used to shine, and even now, he shines. This shine never fades. He stayed strong, so that we, his children, feel the need to stand tall. To stand tall not just for ourselves, but for the responsibilities that come with being his children. Today, although he is not physically present, his love for us is evident, and it burns brightly on this stage,”

Vilasrao Deshmukh served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for two terms. He died of multiple organ failure in 2012. He was 67. He was the fourteenth Chief Minister Of Maharashtra, first term from 18 October 1999 to 16 January 2003 and second term, from 1 November 2004 to 5 December 2008. He was also the part of the Union cabinet as the Minister of Science and Technology and Minister of Earth Sciences.

In 2022, Riteish Deshmukh directed the Marathi hit “Ved,” starring himself and his wife Genelia, which became one of the highest-grossing Marathi films. The film was directed by Riteish, in his directorial debut, and produced by Genelia, both of whom also starred along with Jiya Shankar, marking her debut in Marathi films.

Now, according to Pinkvilla, he’s gearing up to direct a movie about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, with an official announcement expected soon.

“This is not just a film but an emotion for Riteish Deshmukh and he has decided to invest all his energies towards bringing this passion project on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to life. Riteish will not just be directing the film but will also play the titular part of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The basic pre-production work has been concluded and Riteish is now looking to take the film on floors soon,” revealed a source close to the development to the entertainment portal.

The film will be bilingual, in Marathi and Hindi, and produced by Jio Studios in partnership with Mumbai Film Company. “The National Award Winning Cinematographer, Santosh Sivan will be making his debut in Marathi Cinema with this film, which is being planned as the most ambitious in the film industry. The music is composed by the reliable duo of Ajay Atul,” the source added.

The cast members besides Riteish are currently kept secret, with announcements planned later. Riteish has begun preparing for his role as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja “It’s a legacy film and Riteish is well aware of the expectations. He will be leaving no stone unturned to bring forward the most authentic film on the life of the legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,” the source concluded.

Riteish Deshmukh, known for his versatile performances, has graced the silver screen with memorable roles in films like Masti, Ek Villain, Dhamaal and the Housefull series, among others. Fans can anticipate his appearance in upcoming projects such as Kauda, Visfot and Raid 2.
