Saif Ali Khan Admits To Feeling Nervous For Devara Shooting: ‘I Had Sweat Running Down My Back’
During the trailer release of Devara on September 10, Saif Ali Khan recalled the first day of shooting when he was supposed to speak Telugu.

Saif Ali Khan’s Telugu debut with the upcoming film Devara has fans buzzing with excitement. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film starring Jr NTR is slated for release on September 27. Moreover, Janhvi Kapoor’s debut adds to the hype. Ahead of the release, Saif has reflected on his experience of working in the Telugu film industry, admitting that it made him feel like a newcomer.

During the trailer release of Devara on September 10, Saif Ali Khan recalled the first day of shooting when he was supposed to speak Telugu. Highlighting the nervousness he experienced at that moment, Saif confessed, “I remember my first shot speaking Telugu, and I had a bit of sweat running down my back. I felt nervous in a very different way. I come from the same country, but our states are different from one another. Going down there was a totally different experience. It was very kind of Tarak NTR ji and Siva ji to want me in the movie.”

Further revealing how he landed the role of Bhaira in Devara, Saif Ali Khan shared, “The whole thing happened because Tarak (Jr NTR) and Siva wanted me in it. I think they had seen Omkara and remembered it. I have to thank Vishal Bharadwaj ji (director of Omkara) for that.”

During the same media interaction, Saif Ali Khan also gave a peek into his character in the upcoming film. Calling the role interesting, Saif continued, “There is a young version and an old version, crazy make-up. I would not call it an anti-hero but a straight antagonist.”

It needs to be noted that Devara has created a massive buzz both in India and internationally even before its release. Creating a record with its pre-sales, it has become the fastest Indian movie to sell over 15,000 tickets in the US within just a few days of its pre-sale launch.

While Jr NTR plays dual characters in the film, Saif is also expected to prove his versatility by depicting double roles in the story. The plot of the story explores the high-stakes conflict between Saif’s character and Jr NTR’s Devara. The pan-India film is presented by Karan Johar in north Indian territories through his production house Dharma Productions.
