Hansal Mehta’s directorial Shahid starring Rajkummar Rao is considered one of the cult films. Today, as it completed 11 years, the director shared a throwback photo that instantly went viral. Fans were seen reacting to it and calling it a masterpiece. Shahid was released on October 18, 2013.
Taking to his Instagram handle, Hansal Mehta shared a photo in which we can see Rajkummar Rao dressed as a jail inmate and holding a lawyer’s tie. “11 years ago. “Waqt lagta hain, par ho jaata hain”. #Shahid. #Gratitude,” read the caption. As soon as he shared the photo, fans reacted. One of the fans wrote, “I film i will always be so proud of. One of the best film made in contemporary troubled times. To Shahid who fought the hatred and sacrificed his own life..” Huma Qureshi dropped a heart emoji. Many called it a masterpiece.

The 2013 biographical drama is based on the life of lawyer and human rights activist Shahid Azmi. Rajkummar Rao also won the National Award for Best Actor. Hansal Mehta won Best Director Award at the 61st National Film Awards ceremony.
Hansal Mehta’s last directorial was The Buckingham Murders starring Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film was released on September 13. It also stars Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen.
Kareena Kapoor said, “I think I loved playing that part because this is the first time I am playing a detective, and I am a huge crime drama fan.” While the actress admitted that playing the role was difficult since the character’s grief made her uncomfortable it also gave her a lot of joy to play it. She added, “It’s a career-defining role for me and one of my best characters.” Kareena mentioned that she asked the director to make it a four part series since she did not want to let go of the character.
On the work front, Rajkummar Rao is currently seen in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video co starring Triptii Dimri. The film has received mixed response. The actor will be next seen in Maalik. He has begun the shooting for the film.
