Simmba Box Office Collection Day 7: Ranveer Singh Film Smashes Records, Crosses Rs 150 Cr Mark
Rohit Shetty's 'Simmba', which became the biggest opener in Ranveer Singh's career, continued to stay strong on Day 7 as well.

In what's already been a remarkable 2019 start for Ranveer Singh with Gully Boy posters and teaser getting huge appreciation from all quarters, Simmba has now entered the Rs 150 crore club in just 7 days. The cop drama, which became the biggest opener in Ranveer's career, continued to stay strong on day 7 as well and collected Rs 150.80 crore domestically.

Tweeting the latest box office figures, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote: "#Simmba roars and scores at the BO... Crosses ₹ 150 cr mark in Week 1... Glowing word of mouth has converted into footfalls... Fri 20.72 cr, Sat 23.33 cr, Sun 31.06 cr, Mon 21.24 cr, Tue 28.19 cr, Wed 14.49 cr, Thu 11.78 cr. Total: Rs 150.81 cr. India biz. SUPER HIT." Adarsh noted that with no major releases this Friday, Simmba will mostly likely to cross Rs 200 crore mark within a few days.

He tweeted: "With no major release today, #Simmba is sure to dominate the marketplace... Rs 200 cr mark is definitely within reach... Can even touch Rs 250 cr, depending on how it trends from next week (11 Jan)." (sic)

The film, starring Ranveer as a corrupt cop and Sara Ali Khan as his love interest, opened to mixed reviews, but seems to have hit home with the masses.

Directed by Rohit Shetty and co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Simmba revolves around Sangram Bhalerao who becomes a crusader of women’s safety after a girl he treats as his younger sister gets raped.

Rating the film 2.5/5, CNN-News18’s film critic Rajeev Masand wrote in his review, “'Simmba', a remake of the Telugu blockbuster 'Temper', is ultimately one part 'Dabangg', one part 'Singham', and many parts frustrating old-fashioned '80s melodrama. The best thing about the film is the conviction Ranveer Singh brings to it. He fills out the khaki uniform nicely, delivering both punches and punch lines with feeling. Even in the less satisfying second half, he breaks tense moments with an irreverence that’ll make you cheer."
