Tamil Rockers Member, Filming Dhanush’s Raayan, Caught Red-handed
Piracy clips of Dhanush’s Raayan have been grabbing attention on social media.

Tamil Rockers is a name that has been haunting the South film industry for at least a decade. The piracy website is run by a group that came to be known by the same name. Their origin is unknown, but they may have come into existence around 2011, when Pirate Bay and other platforms were famous for downloading pirated videos for free. Initially, the group used to upload only Tamil content on the website and soon ventured into other regional languages. The producers of the films have gone the extra mile to prevent piracy and made attempts to block websites, but Tamil Rockers kept resurfacing. Recently, Dhanush’s film Raayan was about to get pirated as well, but police caught the accused red-handed.

Ever since Dhanush’s Raayan was released, the piracy clips of the film have been grabbing attention on social media. Hence, the makers complained to the cyber police, who found out that the Tamil Rockers mafia was behind the act. The group is notorious for filming films at the theatre and then circulating them on social media groups. It was further discovered that the piracy was not occurring in Tamil Nadu, but in Kerala and subsequently, the police department was alerted.

Kerala City Cyber Police arrested one of the admins of the infamous Tamil Rockers group. Jeb Stephen Raj, a 33-year-old man hailing from Madurai, Tamil Nadu was arrested. The Thiruvananthapuram Cyber Police took him into custody from a prominent theatre where he was caught recording Dhanush’s latest release, Raayan.

Jeb Stephen Raj was brought to Kochi for interrogation. It was further found that he is also responsible for pirating other films like Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja and Kalki 2898 AD. Reportedly, cyber forensics will be examining his phone.

Till now, the pirated versions of the films circulated by Tamil Rockers are of high quality. The reason behind this is that they use the cup holders in the theatres to put their phones in and record the film without anyone’s knowledge. Reportedly, Jeb Stephen Raj received Rs 5,000 from the Tamil Rockers website for every film he uploaded. He has been working in a hotel in Kerala’s capital city for a year and a half and covertly earned money by working for the mafia.
