The first season of Amazon Prime’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power took its time revealing the secrets of its mysterious characters. As the show gears up for the second season, fans are excited to know Sauron and the Stranger’s impact on Middle Earth’s future. Meanwhile, season 2 promises to be packed with excitement and the soundtrack will once again play a crucial role in enhancing the drama and emotion. Emmy Award-winning composer Bear McCreary, who created the memorable music for the first season, is returning for the sequel as well. Ahead of the season’s launch, the 25 soundtracks will be released worldwide on August 23, featuring two fresh tracks from popular artists Rufus Wainwright and Jens Kidman.
As per the press release, “For the epic first season, composer Bear McCreary wove a tapestry of symphonic orchestra, bombastic percussion and folk instruments from across Europe and North Africa, combined with solo vocalists and choirs singing in the iconic languages of JRR Tolkien’s books. For the gripping second season, McCreary has built atop that foundation with dynamic new themes and colours, including Bulgarian women’s choir and gadulka for Rhûn, children’s choir for the pastoral city of Eregion, Hardanger fiddle for new character Estrid, and deathly whispers for the terrifying Barrow-wights.”
Other than the talented singers, a few cast members of The Rings of Power have also contributed their voices to the soundtrack. Sophia Nomvete, who plays Princess Disa, will be heard singing a powerful song dedicated to the mountain. Elven King’s character, Benjamin Walker will lend his vocal skills in the Elvish language. Rory Kinnear, joining the cast as Tom Bombadil and Daniel Weyman, as the Stranger, will bring Old Tom Bombadil’s character to life with their voices.
Meanwhile, Bear McCreary claims that he gets inspired by The Lord of the Rings author, JRR Tolkien’s original work to shape his music. The musician said, “I am honoured to continue forward on this journey, bringing the events of Tolkien’s Second Age to life on the screen.”
The Rings of Power takes place thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The new season will explore the rise and fall of ancient kingdoms, and the challenges faced by heroes and Sauron will spread his darkness across the middle earth.
