After a whirlwind courtship, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are all set to solemnise their relationship with a traditional wedding ceremony. The couple dated each other for about a year, before they decided to seal the deal. The couple kept their love story under wraps until they addressed their relationship.
In a recent interview with Vogue, Priyanka revealed that they began texting each other in 2016, much before they appeared together in Met Gala 2017.
Head over heels by the former Miss World's beauty, Nick messaged her on Twitter. “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet,” the text read. On receiving the text, the actress warned him that the messages are accessible by her team and they should connect over the phone.
Remarking the day when Nick went down on his knees in front of a crowd at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, Priyanka said she was taken aback by his gesture. “And I put my drink down, get on one knee—this is in front of a bunch of people—and I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud.”
He then travelled to India and met Priyanka's mother Madhu Chopra. "We hung out for a couple of hours... he patted my back before he left," she told the publication. She also revealed that the American pop singer did not kiss her because he thought that was respectful.
Finally, on their third date, Nick popped the question offering a ring to the actress in Greece. Nick added, “I got down on one knee, again, and I said: Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me? No joke—she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence.” On not receiving any answer, Nick told her, “I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections.”
Soon after this, Nick flew down to India with his parents, and the couple officially announced their engagement with a traditional ‘roka’ ceremony in India amid friends and family on August 18, 2018. The couple also had their respective bridal shower and bachelor party earlier this month, and are all set to tie the knot on December 2.
