It is generally unusual to see people who are highly qualified in terms of academics turn towards acting to pursue their dreams. Jeetendra Kumar, famously known as Jeetu Bhaiyya, is one of those exceptions. Just like the accomplished coach he portrayed in Kota Factory, guiding students towards realising their IIT dreams, Jeetendra is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur himself, graduating in Civil Engineering. Although he has not been featured in any big film yet, he is called the undisputed king of OTT with his roles in Kota Factory, the highly popular Panchayat and TVF Pitchers.
Jitendra, 33, dreamt of becoming an actor during his studies at IIT.
At IIT, he actively participated in numerous stage shows as the Governor of the Hindi Technology Dramatics Society. During one such event, he crossed paths with Biswapati Sarkar, Executive Creative Director and writer of The Viral Fever (TVF). Impressed by his talent, Biswapati Sarkar promptly recommended Jeetendra to join TVF.
In 2013, Jitendra presented a small sample of his acting in Munna Jazbati: The Q-Tia Intern. It went so viral that it currently clocks 3 million views on YouTube.
He gained prominence primarily for his portrayal of Jitendra Maheshwari, a disillusioned corporate worker in TVF Pitchers, as well as for his roles as Gittu, a bewildered groom in Permanent Roommates and Jeetu Bhaiya in Kota Factory.
Amid these, Jitendra made his Bollywood debut with the film Shuruaat Ka Interval. This film was released in 2014. In 2019, he starred as Srijoy Roy in the film Gone Kesh. His biggest film to date is Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, where he played the homosexual partner of Ayushman Khurana. This was followed by Panchayat on Amazon Prime Video which made him a household name in India. Most of his OTT ventures have been for The Viral Fever (TVF). He has received several awards including two Filmfare OTT Awards.
