Travis Kelce Earns Niecy Nash-Betts’ 'Automatic Green Light' On Sets Of Grotesquerie
The athlete acknowledged that his latest endeavour has presented some challenges, even with Nash-Betts's encouragement.

Travis Kelce will soon make his big Hollywood debut with TV powerhouse Ryan Murphy-directorial Grotesquerie. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end will star alongside Reno 911 fame Niecy Nash-Betts. The 10-episode series will have its premiere on FX on September 25 at 10 pm ET/PT. There have been a few details disclosed about the highly anticipated horror series, but one thing is certain at this point: Kelce and Nash-Betts hit it off right away on the sets.

“They had the best time filming," an exclusive insider told People Magazine. “She just adores him. [Travis] was super happy on set and he and Niecy vibed really well, nothing felt forced," the source said. The insider claimed that Kelce “got an automatic green light from her," despite the fact that the Emmy winner is “the type to make her mind up about people pretty quickly."

In an Instagram video of the two of them on set in May, Nash-Betts disclosed that the Super Bowl star will be joining the FX series. Before turning to Kelce, she teased, “Guys, guess who I am working with on Grotesquerie?" He responded, “Jumping into new territory with Niecy!" while Nash-Betts exclaimed, “We on site!"

Earlier, Nash-Betts said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she was “pleasantly surprised" by Kelce’s performance, which was him showing off his acting prowess on Grotesquerie. The athlete acknowledged that his latest endeavour has presented some challenges, even with Nash-Betts’s encouragement.

In June, he appeared on Good Morning America and answered the question of whether he considered himself an actor. “I guess you could say that," he remarked. While he has appeared on a few programs in the past, Kelce noted that he has “only played myself" in them.

Less than a month remains until Grotesquerie debuts, and on Wednesday, September 4, the official trailer for the drama series was unveiled. Kelce gives an introduction in the trailer first. Nash-Betts says, “Something hellish is here," referring to a cunning killer whose trail she has been assigned to follow. Headlines refer to the family’s murder as a “mass cult death," and Nash-Betts, as Detective Lois Tryon, starts looking into it.

Prior to horrific crime scenes bursting onto the screen, she works with a nun journalist to solve a particularly horrific murder. An ominous “There is no future after this" is spoken by Kelce’s character as he appears.

In addition to Nash-Betts and Kelce, the ensemble features Courtney B. Vance, Micaela Diamond, Lesley Manville, Raven Goodwin and Nicholas Alexander Chavez.
