Vivek Oberoi says he is ‘extremely fortunate’ that he has been chosen to play India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a biopic. He was speaking at the film’s first look lunch in Mumbai on Monday.
Vivek said, “Today I’m feeling like how I felt 16 years ago when I started working on Company. I’m feeling the same excitement, same hunger because this kind of a role is a once in a lifetime experience for any actor. I truly believe that at the end of the journey I shall become a better actor and human being.”
He added, “Narendra Bhai is one of the tallest leaders not just in this country, but in the world. I think to bring him alive onscreen, to bring his persona, to bring his inspirational qualities onscreen is an incredible challenge.”
Omung Kumar, the director of the project, echoed the same sentiments. He said, “This is one of the most difficult and challenging role that I will be playing in my career, because to direct a film—the biopic of a man who is one of the prolific leaders in the history of India—is the most challenging thing a director could do.”
जय हिन्द. జై హింద్. ஜெய் ஹிந்த். Jai Hind ???????????? We humbly ask for your prayers and blessings on this incredible journey. #AkhandBharat #PMNarendraModi pic.twitter.com/t0lQVka7mJ— Vivek Anand Oberoi (@vivekoberoi) January 7, 2019
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was present at the venue with the crew of the film, said, “I would say a film on PM Modi - this thought itself is great and I congratulate you on it. Vivek ji, we are very excited, it feels we should launch the film today. It’s a challenge but I’m sure god will bless you during the project. I feel I’m fortunate that you’ve chosen me as when the film will be made and history will be created—somewhere a mention of my name will be there for releasing its poster.”
The film hasn’t been allotted any release date yet, so it would be interesting to see whether it will hit the screens before the general elections later this year!
