Penn Badgley was once almost convinced that Steven Tyler was his father, thanks to his ex Blake Lively. Recently, in a podcast, the 37-year-old actor recalled when his Gossip Girl co-star pulled on the “remarkable prank” on him which had him believing that Tyler was his father. He also revealed that she “got many people” involved in it, including his mother, Lynne Badgley.
During an episode of his Podcrushed podcast, Penn shared that Blake was “actually very serious about the pranks.” Speaking of the ultimate prank, he shared, “I get an email, just like: ‘There’s this press item we’re trying to kill but just so you know, somebody thinks, or Steven Tyler thinks, he’s your dad.” He further explained, “And I didn’t even think about it for a moment because who would in their right mind would think that that’s true?”
The You Star was contacted by the publicist multiple times, claiming that the Aerosmith frontman himself believed the rumor. Despite not believing that think the concept was true, he still questioned why Tyler would. Then came an interesting turn as Blake encouraged him to call his mother amid the confusion. His mother, who Penn said was not a prankster, also joined Blake and said that he was related to Tyler.
He continued, “She’s upset, and I’m like: ‘Mom, why are you upset? And then she takes a pause, that is like the pause that sold me, and she goes: ‘Why do you think we moved out of Maryland?’”
It needs to be noted that Penn’s parents Duff and Lynne, divorced when he was 12. Penn, during the conversation, admitted that he briefly fell for the prank saying, “I was impressed. I was like: ‘Wow. You really put in a lot of work, and it worked.”
Notably, Blake and Penn dated each other from 2007 to 2010. As of now, Blake shares four kids with husband Ryan Reynolds whereas Penn is a father of a son and stepson with his wife Domino Kirke.
