Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda has turned down the offer to play Laxman in Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana, a new report has claimed. Ranbir is reportedly collaborating with Nitish Tiwari for Ramayan. Reports claimed South Indian actress Sai Pallavi will be playing the role of Sita and KGF star Yash will be essaying the role of Raavan. However, there have been no confirmations on the reports so far. Amid these rumours, it is claimed that Agastya was approached to play Ranbir’s younger brother in the film.
Agastya is set to make his acting debut this year. As per reports Agastya rejected the offer because he already has his hands full. A source told Rediff, “Agastya’s hands are full. He has just completed The Archies with Zoya Akhtar and will be deep-diving into Ekkis with Sriram Raghavan. At this stage of his career, he can hardly afford to play second fiddle to another actor.”
It has also been claimed that a few other actors have been approached for the role of Laxman. However, many have refused to play the part. Nitish Tiwari is yet to react to these claims.
Earlier in the day, a source told KoiMoi that Ranbir is forgoing meat and consumption of alcohol as he prepares to play the role. “While the film will be shot, Ranbir will abstain completely from drinking and eating meat. These are not things he would avoid just for his public image, but also as a dedicated actor Ranbir wants to feel as pure and clean as Sri Rama. In any case, Ranbir is not into late nights and wild parties,” the source claimed.
Ramayan is reportedly being made in three parts. The schedule for the first part is said to kick off next year. As per reports, the first part will reportedly focus on Lord Ram and Sita’s relationship.
