A case has been registered against a waitress working at a five-star hotel in Mumbai after she allegedly spilt hot tea on the hands of a seven-year-old girl, scalding her left forearm.
As per the police complaint, the victim was staying at the hotel with her family and had come to have breakfast at the buffer organised by the hotel with her parents.
On the morning of September 27, an employee named Monalisa B, who works at the hotel as a waitress was carrying hot tea in a kettle on a tray and bumped into the child. This led to the tea spilling on the left hand of the seven-year-old girl, causing her a serious burn injury, reported Indian Express,
According to the parents of the girl, the waitress asked her not to shout when she began to scream after the incident. However, the parents came to know about the incident following which they rushed her to LH Hiranandani hospital.
The doctors said that the girl received superficial burn injuries – which amount to four to five per cent burns following which the parents filed a case against the waitress and an FIR was registered.
The family approached the Sahar police station which later filed an FIR in the case against Monalisa under Section 337 (causing hurt by endangering life) of the Indian Penal Code.
A police official told The Indian Express that an investigation has begun and the statements of guests and staff members who witnessed the accident have been recorded. He also said that the family wants to include the hotel management in the FIR as well.
