Sam Bahadur Song Badhte Chalo Out: Vicky Kaushal Prepares Soldiers For War
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur is based on the life of India's first field marshal, Sam Manekshaw.

Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur and his troop are marching to move mountains in the newly released song Badhte Chalo. Dropped on Monday, the patriotic number from the upcoming biographical war film stands out for its reverence for India. There are vivid types of patriotic tracks that win over audiences, be it about mourning sacrifices or penning romantic paeans to one’s motherland. But Badhte Chalo is one that revels in jingoistic chest-thumping beats, that is sure to remind of Vicky Kaushal’s Main Lad Jana from Uri: The Surgical Strike. Though high on tempo, Badhte Chalo captivates viewers with its simplistic approach.

Shankar Mahadevan, Vishal Dadlani, and Divya Kumar enthusiastically sing “Hindustan Ki Jai" and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai" as inspiring lyrics by Gulzar motivate soldiers to keep moving forward in the music video. In all its sincerity and reverence, the choruses and percussions are accentuated by the musical trip Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Vicky Kaushal’s character Sam Bahadur makes it clear that war is his terrain to win since the beginning of the clip. His battalion moves in risky war zones at a time when divisive political opinions could lead to fatal consequences.

Badhte Chalo celebrates the true spirit of patriotism- which details placing one’s motherland before anything, even oneself. Composers Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy rightly exudes unconditional love for India and in the visuals, Vicky Kaushal goes out of his way, risking his life, and comes up with ace tactics to eradicate enemies. What steals the limelight is the homage paid to the strengths of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Goddess Chamunda, God Hanuman, and many others in the lyrics. From training boot camps to dangerous combats, the music video serves as a great background to the rendition.
