The Railway Men Teaser: R Madhavan On A Mission To Save Lives In This Bhopal Gas Leak Thriller

Yash Raj Films (YRF) is marking its debut in the OTT space with the production of The Railway Men — a gripping real-life story based on the tragic Bhopal gas tragedy. The mini-series created by Shiv Rawail revolves around Bhopal’s deadliest industrial disaster that cost the lives of millions. Set against the backdrop of 1984, the four-episode series will tell the tale of four unsung heroes aka railway workers who were posted at Bhopal station and tried more than their best to save the lives of hundreds in the city. Amidst the anticipation of The Railway Men’s release on Netflix on November 18, the makers recently dropped the show’s nail-biting teaser on social media.

Starring R Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Babil Khan, and Divyendu in titular roles, The Railway Men’s teaser opens with a grim setting. R Madhavan’s voiceover narrates that a gas leak has wreaked havoc in Old Bhopal with the residents choking and reeling under its effects. The scary visuals show the terror in the eyes of industrial workers. The common people are seen scurrying here and there in utter chaos unable to breathe even while wearing masks.

R Madhavan plays the role of Rati Pandey, the General Manager of the Central Railways who undertakes the responsibility of helping the poor people. Kay Kay Menon slips into the role of a station master, while Babil Khan breathes life into the character of a local train pilot. Divyendu is the constable. The Railway Men teaser sheds light on the horrors of the chemical factory gas leak, the hard-hitting visuals capable of sending shivers down your spine.

Sharing the teaser on Instagram, Netflix India and YRF in a joint post wrote, “One tragic night that stirred the entire nation and four heroes who fought through it all. Here’s the teaser for The Railway Men — a four-episode series inspired by true stories. Arrives November 18, only on Netflix”.

Reacting to the teaser, one user wrote, “Goosebumps. Just see star cast Kk sir, RM, Babil Divyendu”. “Feel like we need these four gentlemen in our cinematic universe,” agreed another. Expressing their confidence in the upcoming web series, a third individual quipped, “It will be epic”.

Extremely catastrophic methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas leaked from the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) facility in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, during the evening of December 2-3, 1984. This event not only caused the deaths of thousands but also left hundreds of people disabled and injured.
