Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola sent best wishes for his sister club Mumbai City FC‘s Amey Ranawade, who had a concussion during the Indian Super League (ISL) 2020-21 final on Sunday and had to taken to the hospital. Amey was involved in a collision with ATK Mohun Bagan’s Subhasish Bose that saw his fall to the ground and stay there for almost 10 minutes before he was treated and taken in an ambulance straight to the hospital.
The incident with Amey happened just before half time and his team Mumbai City FC went on to win the ISL title with a 2-1 victory over ATK Mohun Bagan. Bipin Singh scored the winning goal as Mumbai celebrated their first-ever ISL title. They became only the second team to top the points table and win the title in the same season.

After the victory, Ahmed Jahouh was seen wearing or carrying Amey’s jersey everywhere on the ground and the players even dedicated the win to him.
Amey, made it back with the team for celebrations but not before he received congratulations and best wishes all the way from England. “Amey, I am Pep. First of all congratulations for the league, well deserved. I heard you had a concussion and you are in the hospital. Hopefully you can recover as soon as possible and you can get back home to your family, friends and the team to celebrate this victory. Stay safe, stay well and wish you all the best,” Guardiola said in a video shared by Amey on Twitter.

Earlier in the day, Amey shared thanked God for “letting me live one more day” as the concussion saw him out of the game. He also congratulated his team for the victory and thanked the medical staff for all the help on the field and in the hospital.
“I usually start my day by saying thanks to God for letting me live one more day, today I say it one more time, I can’t thank him enough for letting me live one more day. Thanks for all your prayers and messages. I’m doing fine and hope to get better soon.
“Also, congratulations to my team and my teammates for clinching the title! I’m touched by the sweet gesture of them holding my jersey during the celebration. Special mention to medical staff and the doctors for helping me on the field and in the hospital. God above all,” he wrote on Twitter.
