The defending champions come into the game against Afghanistan on the back of a massive 132-run win over Bangladesh in their second game of the campaign.

The holder’s title defence was off to a shaky start as they surrendered a defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the curtain raiser fixture of the showpiece tournament, but did well to bounce back with a triumph over Bangladesh in their second outing.

The English side will look to carry on their winning momentum when they take on the emerging cricketing nation, Afghanistan, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, are still looking for their first win of the tournament after having lost both their opening games.

The Afghan nation came up short against Bangladesh in their tournament opener as they lost by 6 wickets to the Bangla Tigers.

They followed it up with yet another loss against hosts India, who overpowered the Afghanistan team thanks to a magnificent ton from skipper Rohit Sharma.
